Carol A. (Hawkins) Toomey age 77 of Brockton, died Saturday June 18, 2016 at Southeast Rehabilitation Center in N. Easton after a brief illness. She was the devoted wife for 54 years of the late John J. Toomey.
Carol was born and raised in Chelsea, a daughter of the late Edward and Dorothea Hawkins and had been a resident of Brockton since 1960. A graduate of Chandler Business School, Carol was a homemaker devoted to her home and family.
Carol enjoyed gardening around her home and was an avid reader. She will be remembered as a quiet lady who was very involved with her grandchildren.
Carol was the mother of Mark V. Toomey and his wife Jennifer of Naugatuck, CT; Susan E. Dwyer and her husband Jerry of Newton, MA; Edward J. Toomey of San Diego, CA and Debra A. Chalmers and her husband Andrew of New Hampshire. She leaves seven grandchildren Jerry, Jr., Jennifer, Jessica, Jacob, Emma, Christian and Ethan. She was the sister of Pamela Moore of New Jersey, Kathleen McGee of Florida and the late David Hawkins.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday at 11am preceded with visitation 10-11am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
