Obituary

Col. Gary Lee Hicks, USAF, Ret., 75 of Londonderry, NH died Wednesday June 1, 2016 at the Greenbriar Terrace, Nashua, NH. Gary was born in Altoona, PA on August 7, 1940 a son of the late Earl W. and Helen (Fogel) Hicks. He was a resident of Londonderry for the past 10 years, formerly living in Maryland. Gary was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Vietnam War, retiring after 30 years of service. He enjoyed conversing online with members of B-52 veterans group that served together during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Corvair Association, and took great pride in restoring and showing his two 1964 Corvairs.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne P. Mele of Londonderry, two sons, Gary M. Hicks and his fiance’ Terry Demag of Londonderry, and Thomas W. Hicks and his wife Kathleen of Alexandria, VA, two step-daughters, Dayna Popoff and her husband Nick of Davenport, FL, and Kristen Chinosi and her husband Stephen of Derry, NH, five grandchildren, Kyle, Madison, Benjamin, Margaret and Alexander, five step-grandchildren, Makayla, Cassidy, Paolo, Massimo, and Rosa. Gary also leaves two brothers, Edward Hicks and Jerry Hicks, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Arlene Hicks in 2006.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday June 10, 2016 at 4:00pm at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
