Alfred was also the devoted, and much beloved grandfather of both Jared Dallaire, and Jocelyn Dallaire, of New Bedford, Ma., and great grandfather to their children, and also grandfather to Brittney DeAndrade of Monterey, Ca. He was also the self proclaimed "adopted" father of Virginia Wilde of Dartmouth Ma., a role he assumed after her parents passed away. He was also the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews. His presence in all our lives will be greatly and forever missed. His bereavement service is to be held at the O' Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton, with a wake from 5-8 pm on Thursday evening, and a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Mary's Church on Friday morning at 10 am. To follow burial at Saint Joseph's cemetery, the family will host a luncheon at the Bella Roma Restaurant, and invite attendees to join them.
Freddy was a man of simple pleasures throughout his life. He loved nothing more than the time he spent at home with his family, or the time spent in the company of the animals he so loved by his side, his beagle Jasper, and then later, his beautiful dachshund Ginger. He was a voracious life long reader and a history buff, traits he then passed along to his children, and was very much a self educated man. He loved all sports, especially a beautiful day spent outdoors, playing golf, or engaged in watching his much loved NY Yankees beating the Boston Red Sox, accompanied with a nice cold beer. After his employment, and a career as a correction officer, with the State of Massachusetts, he suffered a massive heart attack at age 49, and became a fitness fanatic, exercising and walking miles each day. He also mastered the art of relaxation, and loved capping off each afternoon with a nice, refreshing nap. Having met his wife Margaret at age 18, they soon became a couple, and were married for over 65 years, spending their lives together in devoted companionship. Above all, he worked tirelessly, and without complaint, throughout his life, to ensure that his family was protected, and well cared for, and he made sure that his children were afforded all of the opportunities he never himself had the chance to experience.
