Obituary



WINDHAM- Gilbert George Gallant III, 68, of Windham, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January and died on June 17, 2016 . He was born in Portland, Maine to Agnes and Gilbert Gallant Jr. on Aug. 23, 1947.

He and his wife, Susan, celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary 2 days before his passing. They celebrated by sharing fried dough and pier fries at Old Orchard Beach with their adult children. He was especially proud of how many years he was married. They spent time together in recent years making jewelry from antique and vintage silverware.

He served in the Army from 1966 to 1972. He was a Paratrooper and Pathfinder in Vietnam from 1968-69 with the 1st CAV/101st Airborne Division. His patriotism was evident during his life. He worked as a fisherman in his younger years but mostly in the building construction trade.

Survived by: his daughter Julie and son-in-law Brad Burke; their children Brandon, Seth, Megan Burke. His son Gilbert G Gallant IV [Army rank Sergeant First Class] and daughter-in-law Nese Fair-Gallant; their children James Fair and Gilbert Gallant V. Siblings; Diana and Bob Lloyd, Dolores Hamm, Kenny Gallant, Caroline and Gordon Cobb, Shirley Belliveau, Linda and Peter Rubbo, and brother-in-law Jimmy Tucci. Many special nieces and nephews. He always appreciated the friendship and support of Larry Lapointe.

He is predeceased by: His parents, brother Robert Gallant and sister Patricia Tucci.

Per the family's request, there will be no formal services.
