Mary Ida (Slavin) Murphy age 102 of Natick,died Friday June 17, 2016 at the Metro West Medical Center in Natick.
She was the beloved wife of the late John B. Murphy who died in 1987.
A Natick resident for 57 years she was born in Palmer Road Community, Prince Edward Island Canada, the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Poirier) Perry.
Mrs. Murphy was named by the Town of Natick as “Woman of the Year in 2014. She was an active member of the Natick Senior Center and sang with the Chorale Singing Group the “Goldenaires” and was part of the knitting group.
She was a devout Catholic and longtime Parishioner of St Patrick Church.
She is survived by four children Arlene Betteridge and her husband Russell of Barre MA, Lois Murphy of Norwalk CT, Michael Gerard Murphy of Falmouth, Kenneth Murphy and his wife Patricia of Hopedale, 12 grandchildren, Heather Gearty and her husband Michael, Daniel Murphy and his wife Paola, Kathleen Murphy and Tom Jones, Rebecca Susi and her husband Delio, Jacob Betteridge and his wife Mandy, Abigaile Betteridge-Weiss and her husband Christopher, Shaun Michael Murphy, Justin Mathew Murphy, Ryan Murphy, Mark Andrew Murphy, Caitlin Murphy, Cara Murphy,12 great grandchildren, and daughter in law Elena Murphy of Medway.
She was also the mother of the late John Patrick Murphy who died in 2011.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral on Tuesday June 21 at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Patrick’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Interment St Patrick Cemetery.
