Ruth Amelia (Jones) Brewster, 94, of Anderson, died at her residence after an extended illness.
Ruthie was born October 15, 1921 in Delaware County to Lola Alma (Vanbuskirk) and Milton Jones.
She was a homemaker until early 70's, when she returned to college and obtained a bachelors degree in teaching. She taught school until the 1990's. She started Widows Group 80's, to help others to be independent and to have people to talk to and get help with anything.
She attended North Anderson Church of God when the building was on Lafayette Street, Broadway, Scatterfield Road and Columbus Avenue when it became Madison Park Church of God. She enjoyed painting pictures, breakfast on Saturday with a group of gals and belonged to or started many clubs.
She is survived by her six children, Susan (Lowell) Stevens; Sandra (Jim) Jensma, David Brewster, Tom Brewster, Judy McWilliams and Angela Schmitt; 13 grandchildren, Kathy (Randy) Pierce, Lori Smith, Suzanne (Kurt) Condon, Chris McWilliams, Jeremy (Laylani) McWilliams, Jim (Angie) Jensma, Lisa (Jensma) Barber, Paul Schmitt, III; Joshua (Claudia) Schmitt and Peter Schmitt; 15 great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren, dear friend, Rosemary Harp and her good Pastor Tom Malbone.
Ruthie had six sisters and a brother, Anna (John) Coffman, Theo (Les) Garner, Blanche (Winford) Foster, Flora (Earl) Waddell, Bob (Margaret) Jones, Billie (Arkie) Joslin, Coffman, Carol (Aubrey) Hickey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry T. Brewster in 1983, her mother, Lola (Vanbuskirk) Jones, father, Milton Jones, and sisters, Anna Coffman, Blanche Foster and Flora Waddell.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Tom Malbone officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 20 at the funeral home.
