David Roberson, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died, Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, June 20, 2016, at the Ocilla Church of God in Ocilla with the Rev. Joel Shirley and the Rev. Kenny Croft officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Roberson was born May 18, 1949, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Carlton Roberson and the late Barbara Ann Yancey Roberson Clements. He was a 1969 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended the Police Academy at ABAC. He worked for the Fitzgerald Police Department and Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Roberson was a 30-year employee of Coachmen Industries and also worked in maintenance for Arising Industries. He enjoyed playing music and was an active member of the Ocilla Church of God. He formerly served on the Pastor’s Council and played guitar in the Choir Praise Band. He was also a member of the Kenny Croft Band.
He is survived by his wife of six years, Merle Young Roberson of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Dale & Rebecca Roberson, Edward & Leana Roberson, Willis Roberson, and Paige & Robby Davis, all of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Lane & Josie Roberson, Kahli Roberson, Montana Dixon, Chasity Roberson, Layla Roberson, Jessie Roberson, Sonya Roberson, Willis Roberson, II, Brooke & Jacob Williams, and Ryan Davis; two great-grandchildren: Ashton Roberson and Harley Burke; one sister, Peggy & Rudy Melton of Fitzgerald; and a special aunt, Bernice Yancey of Warner Robins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sierra Roberson and a brother, Cecil Roberson.
