Obituary

Lawrence – Leo E. Sicard, 93 of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth G. (Pothier) Sicard. Born in Lawrence on September 15, 1922, he was the son of George and Mary (Gaudreau) Sicard.

Leo attended Lawrence schools and graduated from the Lawrence High School. He proudly served his country as a technician 4th grade during World War II in the U.S. Army in the European theater. He served in the 112th anti-aircraft artillery battery as a medic. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal, the Croix de Guerre with Palm and the WWII Victory Medal. He worked as a financial analyst at Bell Telephone Labs in North Andover until his retirement. He was a long time communicant at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, where he served as the president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was also a member of the Rainbow Club, the VFW Post #15022, and the American Legion-Department of Massachusetts Post #0122 Methuen. In his free time, he enjoyed doing crosswords, reading, listening to music, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and the rest of his family. He was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.

Leo will be deeply missed by his 2 sons, Richard L. Sicard and his wife, Jo Anne of Florida and Alan J. Sicard and his wife, Ellen of Lawrence; his daughter, Susan E. Fink and her husband, Edward of Lawrence; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Leo’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4 – 8 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 11 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel/St. Theresa’s Church, 22 Plymouth Street in Methuen. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen, MA 01844.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for all of the care and support that Leo’s grandson, Michael, provided over the last few years.
