Laconia-----Dorothy Lowell (Wallace) Kemp, 99, passed away at the Belknap County Nursing Home and went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, June 15,2016.
Dorothy was born in Portland, Maine on February 7, 1917 to the late Eleanor ((Morse) and Elbert Wallace of Pownal, Maine.
After Graduating from Deering High School, Portland in 1935, she attended and graduated from Portland School of Art in 1937 and made Art her career. She loved teaching art classes to children, in her home, in kindergartens, and in Christian Day Schools.
Dorothy was a marvelous artist in her own right, being proficient in water color, oil, acrylic, pencil and pastel. She sold many of her pictures of scenery, flowers, and animals and gave many away to her friends. Several of her pictures are on display at Belknap County Nursing Home.
Her favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10--: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Burial will be private.
Dorothy is survived by her four loving children, Linwood Kemp of East Ridge, TN, Eleanor Horne of Laconia, Nancy Brazee of Danville and Sylvie Proodian of Hampton, IA. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, John Stanley Kemp.
