Gloria M. Cook 73, of Ashton Court, died June 13, 2016 at Hopkins Manor in North Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred J. Cook Sr. whom she married on July 4, 1962. Born on March 19, 1943, in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Warren V. and Rita M. (Emery) Scott. Gloria had lived in Cumberland and Lincoln prior to moving to Burrillville in 1971.
She is survived by her children; Alfred J. Cook Jr and his wife Sandra of Mapleville; Veronica R. Bessette and her husband Michael of Woonsocket; Claudia M. Allard and her husband Kevin of Huntsville, AL; Scott J. Cook of Harrisville, and daughter-in-law Darlene of Pascoag; and Kyle V. Cook and his wife Nicole of Pascoag; thirteen grandchildren, Nathanael, Kristin, Nicholas, Casey, Dylan, Ryan, Brendan, Zackery, Emily, Stephanie, Kayla, Michelle and Calvin; and one great-grandchild, Ariel. She is also survived by six brothers; Armand, Vincent, Ernest, Henry, Donald, and David Scott and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her brother Warren (Pete) Scott.
Gloria was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Pascoag, where she was once an assistant leader of the teen club, a Sunday school teacher, and a choir member. She was a former Cub Scout den mother, Burrillville girls’ softball coach, Burrillville figure skating coach and a CYO leader.
She was a homemaker for many years. Gloria loved knitting, puzzle building, bingo and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a service in the Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Cook Cemetery in Woonsocket. Visiting hours are Thursday 5-8 p.m. in lieu of flowers donations to American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation, or American Diabetes Association in her memory would be appreciated.
