Obituary

Sister M. Francis (Veronica) Trudeau, 89, a Sister of Mercy for 68 years died Sunday July 10, 2005 after a brief illness. A native of Dover, NH, she was the daughter of George J. and Julia (Haughey) Trudeau.

Sr. Francis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and her Master of Arts degree in education from Mt. St. Mary College in Hookset, NH. She was a dedicated teacher in Catholic elementary schools throughout NH, including St. Michael in Exeter; St John in Concord; St. Joseph, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and St. Anthony in Manchester; St. Mary in Claremont: Holy Trinity in Somersworth; and Sacred Heart in Hampton where she served as principal.

After retiring in 1986, Sr. Francis assumed the ministry of coordinator of the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse in Windham, NH, a position she held until 1994. During that time she offered gracious hospitality to many guests, including Sisters of Mercy from across the country.

Family members include a sister, Mrs. Pauline Caswell of Dover, NH, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters: Bernadette Nadeau, Mary McLean and Eleanor Trudeau and 2 brothers: George and Paul Trudeau.

Friends may call at the Sisters of Mercy, 21 Searles Rd, Windham, NH from 4-7 PM on Thursday. A prayer service will be held in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at 11 AM on Friday. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford, NH
