Thomas K. Wark, 60, died May 25, 2016 In Atyrau, Kazakhstan, where he worked and lived.
He was the husband of Svetlana Bolshakova of Moscow. Born in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Donald T. Wark and the late Maureen (Murphy) Wark.
Thomas was educated in Springfield, MA schools. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy, and received his bachelors degree from Columbus State University and his master degree in Russian Studies from Yale University. He retired from the U.S. Army after twenty years of commissioned service. More recently, he has served as security director for projects in a number of Central European and Middle Eastern countries.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his father Donald T. and step-mother Laurette Hoover of Salem, his daughter, Aileen Bennett and husband Lee of Nashville, TN, his son Tom L. Wark of Boston and sons Leonid and Dima Bolshakovy of Moscow, his sister, Elizabeth T. Wark and husband Douglas Keskula of Sylva, NC, and brothers, Stephen J. Wark and wife Elizabeth of Shrewsbury, Lawrence J. Wark and wife Corinne of Alexandria, VA and Andrew P. Wark and wife Maureen of Salem. He also leaves a nephew, Matthew Keskula and a niece, Meredith Keskula.
A Memorial Mass for Thomas will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016, in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be held at a later date.
