In Taunton, June 11, 2016 Anthony E. Thomas, Age 87, passed away suddenly at Morton Hospital. Anthony was the husband of the late Mary A. (Thomas) Thomas. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Fodul & Azize (Yazbeck) Thomas. Anthony had resided all his life in Taunton. He was educated in Taunton schools and also a graduate of Coyne Electrical School in Boston. He served his country honorably while in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed until his retirement as the Executive Director of the Taunton Housing Authority. Tony was a master tradesman and handiman who could fix anything. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Raynham. He was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle and also attended Lady of Purgatory in New Bedford and also St. Anthony’s of the Desert in Fall River. Anthony was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, discussing politics, woodworking, fixing everything and above all he was devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved and cherished his family. Anthony leaves his loving children Marilyn Greene and her husband Lee of Taunton, Anthony Thomas Jr. of Taunton, Frederick Thomas and his wife Susan of Taunton and Michael Thomas and his wife Debra of Stonington, CT. He also leaves his sister Beatrice A. Thomas of Taunton and his late siblings Tom Thomas, Michael Thomas, Mary Cole and Theresa Zatir. Anthony also leaves his grandchildren Christopher M., Kerrin L. and Benjamin M. Thomas. Anthony also leaves his dear friend Sally Moses, several nieces and nephews and his coffee shop friends. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma 02780 on Thursday, June 16th at 9 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8 pm. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in Anthony’s memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #57, 5-7 Taunton Green, Taunton, MA 02780
