Obituary

BEVERLY: Rosemary A. (Sullivan) Desmond, 68, died Friday, June 10, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of Timothy J. Desmond, Jr. of whom she shared forty-eight years of marriage.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Bartholomew D. and Marguerite “Peg” (Hayes) Sullivan. She was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School.

Rosemary was employed by the Essex County Sheriff’s Department for over thirty years, where she was the Assistant Superintendent and Budget Director. Rosemary could always be seen at all her son’s and grandson’s sporting events. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her love, loyalty and generosity were unmatched. Always putting the needs of others first, she left an unforgettable mark on those who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Tim, she is survived by her two sons, Timothy J. Desmond, III and his wife, Denise (Nye) and Shawn T. Desmond and his fiancé, Jennifer Gilligan; five grandchildren, Shamus P. Desmond, Garrett T. Desmond, Colin T. Desmond, Owen L. Desmond and Kelcie R. Desmond; a niece, Shelly Gobeille; a nephew, Richard “Rick” Teel; two aunts, Doris Hayes and Nancy Sullivan and many cousins. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Maryann “Mim” Teel.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
