SOUTH HADLEY – David M. Dubuc, 44, a longtime resident of South Hadley, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Friday, June 10, 2016. David was born in Northampton on March 1, 1972, a beloved son of Michael J. and Carole V. (Majka) Dubuc of South Hadley. He was raised in South Hadley, attended local schools and received his diploma from Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in Palmer. David was one of God’s Special Children who was employed at Sunshine Village in Chicopee where he spent many happy hours with the staff and his many friends. David was an active member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus where he volunteered at their weekly Bingo, their Tootsie Roll Drive in October and at the yearly Thanksgiving Dinner. David was involved with Jericho in Holyoke where he participated in dances at the Fairview Knights of Columbus. David enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and UConn Women’s Basketball. He also participated for many years in the Special Olympics where he earned several medals. David’s happy life included traveling with his devoted parents to many places including, Hawaii, Alaska, the Panama Canal, three cross country trips and their yearly vacations to Naples, Florida. David had a wonderful sense of humor and anyone who knew him enjoyed interacting with this special man. David will be sadly missed by his many friends at Sunshine Village and his special friends from the Fairview Knights of Columbus in Chicopee. He leaves his devoted parents, Michael and Carole, his loving aunt, Jane (Majka) Golob of South Hadley and her partner and David’s best buddy, Bob Gaudrault of Chicopee. In addition, he also leaves his aunt, Beverly Pershing of Port Charlotte, FL; and her three children, Michael Pershing and his wife, Tammy, of Port Charlotte, FL, Pamela Pershing of Fort Myers, FL and Debra Whalen of Chalfont, PA. David has now joined his beloved grandparents in the Eternal City of Heaven, Valmore “Red” and Grace (Kelliher) Dubuc and Walter and Veronica (Perkowski) Majka. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, June 16, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. His burial will follow the Mass at Saint Rose Cemetery, 226 Granby Road, (Rte. 202), South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in David’s memory to Sunshine Village, 75 Litwin Lane, Chicopee, MA 01020 or to Jericho, PO Box 1039, Holyoke, MA 01041-1039.
