Dorothy “Dot” H. (Greenleaf) Linn, 90, formerly of Whitman, died Wednesday June 8 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren H. Linn.
Born and raised in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Helen (Henderson)
Greenleaf and a graduate of Abington High School, Class of 1943.
Prior to her move to Jefferson, MA in 2007, Dot had been a familiar face and an active member of the Whitman community for over 56 years. She had worked many years as a library aide at the Whitman Middle School and the Whitman Public Library. She was an active member and supporter of the Whitman Senior Citizens where she was a member of their knitting group as well as many other activities.
For over 60 years she had been a member of the First Congregational Church of Whitman, where
she had served as an officer for the Everson Bible Group and the Chi Kappa Club and had assisted on several other committees for the church. Upon her move to Jefferson she became a member of Chaffin Congregational Church.
She had also been a member of the Eastern Star, Pilgrim Chapter 89.
She is survived by her children Cynthia Spratt of Plymouth, Nancy Smith and her husband Scott of Georgia and Bruce Linn and his wife Marie of East Bridgewater. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Dana Linn, her brothers Charles Greenleaf and Leslie “Red” Greenleaf, and her sister Hazel Carlson.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday June 16 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Her funeral service will be held Friday June 17 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
