Obituary

Kathryn V. "Kay" (Vetrano) Gardella, 101, of Acushnet passed away Wednesday June 8, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Gardella.
Born in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Gennaro and Teresa (Coppola) Vetrano, she lived in Yonkers before moving to this area 30 years ago, having resided in both Dartmouth and Acushnet.
Mrs. Gardella was formerly employed as secretary to the librarian at Yonkers Public Library.
She was a member of Yesterday's Youngsters Walking Group in Dartmouth. She loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Garth and her husband, the Honorable Lance J. Garth of Dartmouth, and Teresa St. Jean and her husband Robert St. Jean of Acushnet; a sister, Beulah Politi of Newburgh, NY; eight grandchildren, Christopher Garth, Geoffrey Garth and his wife Carolyn, Joseph Zekus and his fiancée Kristy McKay, Michael Zekus and his wife Beth, Brett St. Jean and his wife Lacey, Danielle Aruri and her husband Jay, Rochelle Coppa and her husband Gary, and Robert St. Jean, Jr. and his wife Sherry; 14 great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Preston, Jack, Cally, Penelope, Aaron, Brenna, Parker, Madison, Jordyn, Eli, Brady, Kiana, and Kyle; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Gussy, John, Eli, and Neal Vetrano, and her sisters, Clara DiDonato, Corinda Mazzuca, Carmella Castriana, and Lena Cardillo.
Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 18, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yonkers at a later date. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Massachusetts Special Olympics, 512 Forest St., Marlboro, MA 01752.
