Obituary

Susan Gram of Boston died June 8 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a short illness. She leaves her daughter Drusilla Slattery and son-in-law Jack Slattery of Marblehead, and their son, her grandson, Gram Slattery of Santiago, Chile.
Born in Saint Louis, Susan lived in Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York City, and Duxbury, Massachusetts, before moving to Boston where she lived for 31 years. As a young woman she studied at Ashley Hall was a talented and accomplished athlete: an ice skater, skier, equestrian, and long distance swimmer. She worked for the Ladies Home Journal in the architectural department, Women’s Wear Daily, worked on the Eisenhower campaign, and organized fundraising events for UNICEF. Later she became a respected real estate agent in the Waterfront neighborhood until her final days, a career of more than three decades. An admirable, proud, and admiring mother and grandmother, Susan also gathered many long-time friends who she delighted and sometimes challenged by her loyalty, energy, enthusiasm and intelligence. She was great fun.
A private memorial service will be held in August when her grandson returns to Marblehead.
