Obituary

Jay L. Brennecke, exceptional man, 70, of Lake Ozark, MO, Maplewood, MN, and Oconomowoc, WI passed away unexpectedly on March 23rd, 2016. Jay had lung issues for years and his heart gave up suddenly, releasing him to Heaven, to join the ones he loved and missed. Jay was proud to serve as a Navy Seal (Vietnam 1963-1966), and cared greatly for his fellow soldiers. After his three Tours of Duty, Jay settled in Milwaukee and began his career as an electrician. On September 26th 1981 he married the love of his life Marty (Marlyce) Christianson. In 1984 they moved to Minneapolis where he became President of Thompson Electric and later worked at Collins Electrical Construction Co. in St. Paul. His last hurrah before retiring was as Principal Instructor in the Electrical Construction Department at Dunwoody College, Minneapolis. He loved teaching and his students as much as he loved the construction industry. Jay had a great love of fishing and enjoyed dipping jigs as one of his hobbies. After a day of fishing for the elusive Muskie at Bone Lake (WI) he would come home and tell Marty. “You should have seen the follow I had!” She would just look at him and say “Can we eat it???” Jay had a million stories and shared them with friends (sometimes over and over!) He was kind to all, helped everyone he could, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was preceded in death by parents Jane and Robert (Papa) Brennecke, infant son Scotty Jay and brother-in-law Roger Miller. He is survived by his loving wife Marty Christianson, son Rob Brennecke, grandsons Daniel and Ryan, and daughter-in-laugh Shannon Brennecke. He is missed dearly by daughter Christianne (Jay) Laing and granddaughter Martha Lily, sister-in-law Julie (Dave) Rhinehart, niece Ashley and nephew Josh. Please join us for a Celebration of Jay’s Life on Wednesday June 22, 2016 at Neumann’s Bar and Grill (one of his favorite haunts!), 2531-7th Avenue, North St. Paul from 4 to 7p.m. Bring your best Jay stories; you know how he loved to laugh. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
