TEWKSBURY: Maria (Santos) Soares, age 96, passed away at home on Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2016.
She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Soares, who passed away in 1988.
Born in Portugal on March 13, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Santos and the late Maria (Matias) Santos.
Maria resided in Somerville and Cambridge until moving to Tewksbury in 2007.
Survivors include, Valdamar Soares and his wife Isaura, with whom Maria resided of Tewksbury, and Antonio Soares and his wife Edith of Toronto, Canada; also many extended family members.
At the request of the family, there are No Calling Hours.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet on Friday, June 10, at 10 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury for her Funeral Mass. Graveside committal service will be held Friday, June 10, at 12: 30 p.m. at Cambridge Cemetery. There will not be a funeral procession to the cemetery. Those attending are asked meet at the Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue, Cambridge, MA.
