Obituary

LOWELL: George H. Keene, Jr. age 78, a resident of the Centerville section of the city for over 45 years, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Palm Manor in Chelmsford.
He was the husband of Ann (Szopa) Keene, who died July 17, 1991.
Born in Lowell on October 7, 1926, he was the son of the late George H. Keene, Sr. and Dorothy (Trull) Keene.
Mr. Keene was raised in Lowell. He attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School in 1944.
Mr. Keene served during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged from active duty at Ft. George G. Meade on November 22, 1955 having earned the rank of SP-3.
Mr. Keene attended the First Baptist Church of Tewksbury.
He was a member of the Wamesit Masonic Lodge AF & AM of Tewksbury for over 50 years.
Mr. Keene enjoyed outdoor activities and gardening.
He is survived by two sons; George H. Keene, III of Lowell and Stephen D. Keene and his wife Cindy (Hale) of Dracut; two grandchildren; Marcia and Victoria Keene both of Dracut; three sisters; Barbara Foster of Lincoln, RI, Jane Wood of Lowell and Sarah “Sallie” Carson of Tewksbury.
Mr. Keene was the brother of the late Charlotte Hartley and Dorothy Bennett.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 18th at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Tewksbury. At his request there are No Calling Hours. Interment at Lowell Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701, American Diabetes Assoc., P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038 or to the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested. Arrangements entrusted to Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, Tewksbury.
