Maureen A. (Stanko) Turano, 67, of South Dartmouth passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at home surrounded by her family, after a short battle with cancer.
Ms. Turano was born in Fall River on September 4, 1948, daughter of the late John J. and Eileen R. (O’Connell) Stanko. She was a 1972 graduate of Salve Regina University earning her BA in biology and education. She then worked for various schools including Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School in Taunton where she stayed for 25 years. She was a coach for the Special Olympics-Southeast Division Bowling and Special Olympics athletes. She adored her pets Lilly, Emmet and Benny.
Survivors include her 2 daughters: Kimberly DeCelles and her husband Daniel of Bridgewater and Kelli Francoeur and her husband Donald of Westport; and her brother: Kenneth Stanko, whom she was a long term caretaker for, of S. Dartmouth.
