Philip B. Rigney, 51, of Medway, died Friday, June 3, 2016, at Rhode Island Hospital from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident in Wareham, MA over Memorial Day weekend. Born in Cambridge, Philip was the son of Sandra Griffiths Rigney of Wellesley and the late James Carey Rigney.
Philip proudly served in the National Guard for six years and was a resident of Medway for the past twenty years. He was employed at Chad T. Empey, LLC, in Holliston as a Senior Field Supervisor. He previously owned and operated Rigney Tree Landscape for many years in Wellesley and Medway.
A jack-of-all-trades, Philip was very handy and mechanically inclined. He was a hands-on person who was always reaching out to help others. He enjoyed fishing, camping, going to the beach, biking, hiking and spending time with his family, friends, and beloved dogs. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his mother, Philip is survived by two daughters, Kayla and Deanna Rigney of Medway, and his loving partner, Dolores Morin of Medway and her children, Matt and his partner Jaymie, Lisa and her partner John, and Ashley, as well as Dolores’s grandchildren whom he adored: Abby, Jayden, Emma, Kyle, and Dylan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Philip’s Life in the Pavilion at Bourne Scenic Park (www.bournescenicpark.com) in Bourne, MA on Saturday, June 18, from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. His family requests casual dress, and children are welcome. There will also be a memorial service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Wellesley this summer.
