FRAMINGHAM: Claire F. (Martin) Halfrey, 86, died peacefully and comfortably on June 4, 2016 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Needham, MA on August 12, 1929 the daughter of the late Harry Martin and Grace (Farrand) Martin.
Claire Halfrey was the wife for 55 years of the late Robert Russell Halfrey, Sr. who died on August 29, 2007.
She was the loving mother of Robert R. Halfrey, Jr. of East Falmouth; Gail M. Vail of Streamwood, IL; Alan B. Halfrey of Natick and Susan A. Leavey and her husband Bill of Northborough. She was the devoted grandmother of Christopher Leavey of Northborough; Jacqueline Cetrone and her husband Brian of Auburn and Allison Sutherland and her husband Sean of East Taunton. Also survived by five great-grandchildren, her sister Stephanie Baucum of Tempe, AZ and several cousins.
Mrs. Halfrey spent her formative years in Needham and graduated from Needham High School. She received her nursing education from Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing and retired after a long and productive career as a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery Department of Newton Wellesley Hospital. She enjoyed her time spent with her family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also loved to be with her dog Hallie.
At the request of her family, all funeral services will be private and at their convenience.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who cared for and loved Claire during her lifetime.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Claire’s memory be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
