Obituary

David Wayne Grenon, 60

Loving Father, dedicated husband, kind brother, loyal friend. These are just some of the words that describe David Wayne Grenon, a man who gave unconditional love to everyone that came into his life. David, 60 years old, passed away Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 in New Bedford, Massachusetts after a brief illness.

David was born on August 16th, 1955 in New Bedford to Leo and Adeline Grenon. In 1978, David married the love of his life, Janice Botelho, and during their thirty-eight year marriage they raised their daughter, Sara, and their son, Matthew.

David graduated from Fairhaven High School and attended Quincy College. He worked as a Water Treatment Plant Operator at the Quittacas Water Treatment Facility in East Freetown and as a Construction Foreman for the city of New Bedford. He was a hard-working, well-respected man.

If you were friends with David, you knew that he never gave up on anyone, and that he was passionate about all-things sports, content to watch his beloved Red Sox and play golf, in particular. He was gregarious man who had a larger than life presence, and a dominant way of commanding a room.

David adored his family, including his pets, and he meant everything in the world to Janice, Sara and Matthew. He was a gentle man who unreservedly helped everyone without question or judgement. David will be remembered for his sense of humor, laughter, kind and loving heart and his larger-than-life personality.

He is survived by his wife Janice and their children Sara and Matthew; his sister Joan DePastino, her husband Gary and their children, Chase, Megan and her husband Adam. His brother-in-law Joseph Botelho and his wife Cynthia and their children Jeffrey and Jennifer, as well as their spouses, Susan and Gil. He is also survived by his great nephew James, and great niece Daphne.

David’s loved ones will receive friends and family Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 5 - 8 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., New Bedford, MA 02740. A Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven, Massachusetts will take place on Friday morning at 10 A.M. with visitation starting at 8:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Fairhaven.
