NELLIE MAE (PAUL) SWEENEY, 95, was born on January 1, 1921 to George Bell and Sudie Mae Paul in Louisville, KY. and passed from this life on June 6, 2016 in Hospice Care in Jacksonville, FL.
Nellie was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church from the age of five. She was employed by J.C.P.S. as a secretary to the principal of the Brown School for over thirty years. In 1947 she married Rylon Sweeney and together they raised their three children.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, daughter, Frankie Priddy, sister, Leora Paul and brother, Hugh Paul.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Sweeney (Eva Patterson) and John Sweeney (Debbie); grandchildren, Laura Sweeney, Stephanie Sweeney, Wesley Priddy and Amanda Lambert (Jake); and great grandchildren, Lindsay Priddy and Rylon Lambert.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home. 5317 Dixie Highway with burial in Resthaven Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
