Manuel A. Barros of Somerville died on Monday, June 6. Born and raised in The Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Sousa and Maria Braga (Andrade) Barros. Manuel moved to the U.S. in 1980, settling first in Cambridge, then Somerville in 1991.
Manuel was the beloved husband of Maria Lurdes (Tavares) Andrade, and devoted father of Antonio Andrade and his wife Cisaltina of Somerville, Jose Manuel Andrade and his wife Ana, Pedro Andrade and his wife Maria, Teresa Laycox and her husband George of Tewksbury, Jose Antonio Andrade and his wife Laura, and Alexander Andrade, all of Somerville. He was the loving grandfather of Kevin, Michelle, Michael, Melissa, Jessica, Nelson, Shawn, Patrick, Tayler, Isabella, Angelica, and Alexander, and the loving great grandfather of Gabriel, Dylan, HollyAnna, Aldina, and Lila Rose.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, June 10, at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 400 Cardinal Medeiros Ave., Cambridge, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, June 9, from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
