Jackson Thomas King, Jr. of Ledyard, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2016, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut on June 19, 1943 and was predeceased by his parents, Jackson T. King, Sr. and Isabel (Crissey) King. He is survived by his wife, Kate Lockhart, and their two sons and daughter-in-law, Daniel Lockhart King, and his wife Marie, of Reston, Virginia, and Jeremy Lockhart King of Brooklyn, New York.
Jackson graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven in 1961 and the University of Connecticut in 1965. He graduated first in his class at the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1968. Upon graduation from law school, Jackson clerked with Chief Justice John Hamilton King (no relation) at the Connecticut Supreme Court. He joined the law firm of Brown, Jacobson, Jewett and Laudone, P.C. in Norwich where he became a partner in 1971. He was hired as General Counsel by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in 1993, where he was currently employed.
Over the years Jackson served on many commissions, boards and committees too numerous to name. He was a member and past president of Stonington Country Club and loved nothing better than playing a round of golf with his many golf buddies.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation. In memory of Jackson, play a round of golf, listen to A Prairie Home Companion, read a book, plant a vegetable garden, feed the birds, take a walk in the woods, look up at the stars…
The family will receive visitors at Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic, on Friday, June 10 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial gathering will be held at Stonington Country Club, 396 Taugwonk Road, Stonington on Saturday, June 11 at 11:00 am.
