Theano Aivalikles passed away peacefully at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. She was 94, just a couple weeks short of her 95th birthday. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Demetrios and Papadia (Lambrenos) Vouros. A Medford resident for most of her life, she and her late husband owned and operated several restaurants throughout the US. Theano worked all of her life and enjoyed traveling with her husband as they began new and successful ventures. They started and owned Landis in Chicago, The Bridgewater in Somerville, NJ, Trigonas in New Hampshire and the popular Jiffy’s on Wall Street in New York City. Even with her strong work ethic and business acumen, she was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother. Yet even as she became elderly, she never gave up the opportunity to assist her sister and brother-in-law at their famed donut shop in Medford. She delighted in being part of the lives of her adored grandchildren. She was a kind neighbor and a dear friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The beloved wife of the late Efstratios Aivalikles, she was the loving mother of Diana Meyers and her husband Robert, Patricia Evangelis and her husband Gregory, William Aivalikles and his wife Norma. The devoted grandmother of Danny, Theane, Maestro, Stratton and Jamie, Theano also leaves five great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. She was also a dear sister of George Vouros, Marcia Issaris and her husband Nikolas, Effie Koleas and her husband Peter and the late Charles Vouros and Fotini Moskos.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Thursday, June 9th at 10 AM followed by a funeral service in Saint Athanasius Greek Orthodox Church, 4 Appleton St., Arlington at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with entombment at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Wednesday 4 – 8 PM.
