Elisa Deloris Woods, 60 died at her home in Attleboro on June 3, 2016. Daughter of the late Millard Joseph Woods and Mary Florence Pelton, granddaughter of Peter Paul Woods, Blanche Elizabeth Cooper, Courtland Gilman Pelton, and Mary Jane McNeil, great granddaughter of Peter Woods, Margaret Leary, Adrian Othello Cooper, Susan Mary Waldron, Miner Foster Pelton, Cora (Ketura) Veinot/ Veno, John Lauglin "Lauchie" MacNeil, and Florence "Flora" MacKinnon. Mother of Michael Scott Woods of San Francisco, the late Stephen Michael Woods, Jonathan David Woods of Dorchester, and the late Elisa Delia Woods-Santry. Grandmother of Ka'Leigh Marie Woods, Kevin Michael Woods, Jenna Loren Woods, and Stephen William Woods. Consort of her beloved Stephen Edmund "Tip" Burke, the father of her sons, and of the late William Anthony Santry, the father of her daughter. Predeceased by brothers Michael, Mark Joseph, and Millard Jay "Buddy" and by her parents. Cherished sister of Courtland, Mary O'Neil, "Peggy" Ross, and Steven; also sister-in-law of Gilbert O'Neil, Thomas Ross, Caroline, and Rose. Loving aunt of Gilbert and Olivia O'Neil, Fiona Ross, Samantha Woods Barto, Jennifer Woods Greiner, and Jeremy Woods. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and dedicated every fiber of her being to doing her duty to ensure that her children survived to adulthood. She had a hard life, but exemplified the highest level of toughness to which humanity can aspire, particularly after Tip died in a motorcycle crash and left her with meager resources to feed and protect a five-year-old, a three-year-old, and a one-month-old. Her fortitude is more remarkable when the reader considers that the wound caused by the death of her 16-year-old daughter in a Utah desert on an Outward Bound trip in 2006 never healed. Her sons raised her spirits with their off-color, low comedy when they could. Visiting Hours will be held at the Casper Funeral Home located at 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston on Wednesday. Interment services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
