TEWKSBURY - James Arthur “Jim” Lavalle Jr., age 53, died Monday morning, June 6, at Lowell General Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with diabetes. He was the beloved husband of Tonya Ann (McGilley) Lavalle, with whom he had celebrated an eleventh wedding anniversary this past October 14.
Jim was born in Cambridge, one of eight children of the late James and Joanne (Groves) Lavalle, and was raised in Somerville. He lived in Everett and the greater Boston area throughout his life, and had moved to Tewksbury five years ago.
When in better health, he had worked as an auto body mechanic.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Courtney R. Lavalle of Tewksbury; seven siblings, Laura Lavalle and her life partner Brian Kopp of Alexandria, NH, Joanne Allison and her husband Sean of Dunstable, Kimberly Lavalle and her husband Richard Fredette of Shapleigh, ME, Paul Lavalle and his wife Tammy of Kennebunk, ME, Michelle Walker and her husband Michael of Saco, ME, David Lavalle and his wife Tracy of Wells, ME, Jennifer Pive and her husband Phil of Newfield, ME; his father-in-law, John T. McGilley and his late wife Joan of Melrose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
