Obituary


John A. “Jay” Buckley, Jr. age 66 of Bridgewater, died Wednesday June 1, 2016 from injuries received in a tragic accident. Jay was the husband of Susan M. (Patricelli) Buckley. Jay was born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Giles) Buckley and had lived in Bridgewater since 1989. A 1968 graduate of Brockton High School, Jay served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
For many years Jay was associated with his family’s three generation owned business Colonial Trucking in Brockton. He had been a member of Teamsters Local 25.
Jay loved golf and played at many local courses. He will be remembered as a very generous and kind hearted man who always gave of himself to others. Most importantly, Jay loved spending time with his friends and family especially his grandchildren.
Jay is survived by his two sons Joshua M. Buckley and his wife Kerry and Jacob A. Buckley and his soul mate Elizabeth Etro all of Bridgewater. He was the loving grandfather of John Ambrose Buckley, Brianna Buckley, Joshua Buckley, Jr. Mathew Buckley and Mia Etro. Jay was the brother of Kathleen Page of New Hampshire, Paul Buckley and his wife Judy of Bridgewater, Maureen Bourne and her husband Bobby of Easton, Susan Lima and her husband Lenny of Brockton and the late Jane Madden, wife of Joe of Bridgewater. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Wed. 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 8am for a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
