Rosalie Anne “Lee” Ferrara, age 93, a resident of Winchester for over 45 years, passed away on June 2, 2016. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mary (Michalini) Ferrara.
An artist, Ms. Ferrara was employed as a product designer for many years at Family Products in Tyngsboro. She also maintained her own art studio, “Lee Ferrara Designs”, where she created and her perfected her own product designs, notably a product named “Sculpt Art” for Sears and Roebuck, which was a unique Styrofoam art product utilizing wood-burning and paint-by-numbers techniques. She also painted in watercolors and oils, and fabricated silkscreening on prints, postcards and greeting cards. Ms. Ferrara earned her Master’s degree in art and also taught art at Harvard. In her spare time, Lee enjoyed cooking, photography and tennis.
Lee was the dear sister of the late Santo J. Ferrara and Gracia (late Francis) Harnois, and the loving aunt of Joseph W. and Robert J. Ferrara, Jean (Robert) Smyth, Joanne Murphy (late Oliver), and the late John C. Ferrara. She was also the great-aunt of Brian Murphy, Kathleen (Joe) Healey, Robert J. Ferrara, Jr., Erin C. Ferrara, Daniel J. Ferrara, Holly Jane (William J.) Toohey, and the late Joseph W. Ferrara, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St, Winchester on Tues., June 7 from 5-8PM, and again on Wed. at 10AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lee’s memory may be made to the Winchester Seniors Assoc. 109 Skillings Rd., Winchester, MA 01890.
