Obituary

Jennie G. (Mackiewicz) Arab died peacefully at Brockton Hospital in the early hours of Thursday, June 2, 2016. She would have celebrated her 97th birthday this summer. She was born in Rockland on August 21, 1919, grew up in North Abington, went to Abington schools, and attended the Brockton Academy of Beauty Culture. She worked at Helen’s Beauty Salon in Abington Center before opening her own beauty shop in the building that now houses the restaurant, Mia Regazza. She and her husband opened a Colpitt’s Travel Agency in Westgate Mall in Brockton. Jennie then went on to work for many years for Jordan Marsh, later Macy’s, in the South Shore Plaza. Peter Bolus Arab of Brockton married Jennie in 1960. They resided in Brockton and Whitman, before Peter passed away in 1982.
Jennie was the eldest child of Stefan and Sophie (Ruskiewicz) Mackiewicz, the sister of Frank Mackiewicz, Wanda Cook, Pauline Lee, and Henrietta Roy: all deceased. Auntie Jennie is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews. We were all willing tasters for her “new recipes” and grateful recipients of her many knitting projects.

Her funeral services will be held on June 7th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the St Bridget Church, Abington, Burial will follow in the St Patrick Cemetery, Rockland. Visitation will be on Monday June 6th from 3:00-6:00PM.
