Obituary

Laconia---Charles A. Simmons, 95, former longtime resident of Laconia, recently of Needham, Massachusetts, died on Saturday, May 28, 2016.

Mr. Simmons was born March 27, 1921, the son of Alonzo J. and Margie Simmons of Winnisquam. He attended the local schools and graduated from Laconia High School in 1939. In 1943, he graduated from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. During World War II, he served as a lieutenant (junior grade) in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater.

Mr. Simmons was predeceased by his wife of sixty years, Lucile Perley Simmons of Laconia, and his sister, Elsie Simmons of Winnisquam. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Simmons Cheeseman and her husband, William, of Quechee, Vermont, and daughters Gail Simmons Loncher of Fredonia, New York, and Martha Simmons of Wellesley, Massachusetts; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and his sister, Lorraine Dunlop of Tilton, New Hampshire.
There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 11:30am in the Chapel at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tippett Home, VNA Care Network & Hospice, Development Office, 199 Rosewood Drive, Danvers, MA, 01923.
