Claire was the youngest of her siblings in her family and lived in many homes during her young life due to her mother Virginia’s age, condition and illness. Living at Daily Industrial School for girls in 1942 during World War II, then moving to a foster home in Milford, Massachusetts then once more to a small rural township in Milo, Maine which she explained to her son, looked more like a Norman Rockwell Painting of an old farming community with a big country store which was the only store and large building in town which locals gathered for monthly dances, grange meeting and all the local activities.
Claire’s parents Joseph and Virginia emigrated from Rimini, Italy in 1909. Virginia was a young girl of just 16 years old. As a couple they found their way to Boston where other relatives lived. Virginia, Claire’s mother had twelve children, six boys and six girls.
