Obituary

George W. Brooks, 95, formerly of Dedham, Massachusetts died on Sunday, May 22, 2016 under the care and loving support of the nursing staff at the Veterans Memorial Home-Menlo Park in Edison, New Jersey. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn (Tucker) Brooks of 58 years.

He graduated Dedham High School in 1938. George served honorably in the Army during World War II until 1945. Following the Army, George worked for Westinghouse Electric in Hyde Park, MA for over 50 years. He was active in the Dedham community, serving as the Registrar of Voters as well as a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was an avid supporter of all Dedham youth sports.

A loving and devoted father of Douglas Brooks and wife Leslie of Locust, New Jersey, Richard Brooks and wife Robin of Woodbridge, Virginia, David Brooks and wife Debbie of Brunswick, Maine. He was the grandfather of Willie, Jeffrey, Lauren, Eliza, Matt, and Jenna Brooks, and great grandfather of Thomas and Lilly Brooks and Cayden and Cameron Lake. George was the uncle of Lisa Flanagan and husband Allen Fleck of Falmouth, Massachusetts, and Lori English and husband Greg of Boynton Beach, Florida. He was the great uncle of Erin and Meghan English.

Family and friends are welcome to join a Memorial Service and Celebration of George’s Life held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St, Dedham at 10:00 AM, Saturday June 11, 2016. A graveside memorial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stars and Stripes Unit at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home at Menlo Park, 132 Evergreen Rd, Edison, New Jersey 08818-3013, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation www.alzfdn.org.
