James Edward Dean, 57, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully Monday, May 30, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Dean was born July 11, 1958, in Roanoke, Alabama, to the late Sylvester Dean and Annie Maude Mitchell Dean. He had lived in the community for over 30 years and worked for Shaw Industries as Superintendent of the spinning and the finishing department. Mr. Dean enjoyed working on racecars, cars, restoring tractors, building smokers, building birdhouses and woodworking. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Dean was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Hazel Lynn Barnes Dean of Fitzgerald; two daughters Renee & Jack Week of Conyers and Diane & Jeremy Hardin of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren: Wesley & Amanda Scarbary of Ocilla, Erica Branch, Rylee Rycroft, Rob Rycroft and Reagan Rycroft; great-grandchild: Maddie Scarbary; brothers-in-law: Eugene & Sue Barnes of Mariana, Florida, John & Kathy Barnes of Tennessee and Al & Lori Cook of Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law: Shellia & Ron Flesher of Fitzgerald and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandfather: Wesley Myrick.
