Southwick, Jane Elizabeth
Age 66, passed away peacefully at home in Roslindale on Friday, May 27, 2016. She is survived by her husband, Larry Bayer; her daughters, Emma Southwick Bayer and May Southwick Bayer; and her siblings William Southwick and Amy Southwick. Born and raised in New Jersey, she attended Kent Place School, Smith College, Brown University, and Boston College. She was a community organizer and a mental health worker for Spanish speaking clients. After staying home raising her young daughters, Jane created a quilting and literature program for Boston elementary students. She later earned a M.Ed. and began a second career as a Spanish and Latin teacher at Quincy High School. Jane, an active and beloved member of the Roslindale community, loved Spanish and Roman culture, travelled extensively throughout Spain and Latin America, was an excellent cook, and was an avid reader. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4 at 1PM at the Deutsches Altenheim-German Centre Auditorium at 2222 Centre St. West Roxbury.
