Downing B. Young, Jr. (D.B.), 57 years old, of Fern Park, FL died unexpectedly on July 7, 2005.
Memorial services will be held at Baldwin-Fairchild, 501 E. Mitchell Hammock Rd. Oviedo, FL 32765, Thursday 7/14/05 at 3:00PM. Interment will be Saturday, 7/16, 11:00 AM in Ocilla, GA in Brushy Creek Cemetery, beside his parents, with Paulk Funeral Home, 201 W. 4th St. in charge of arrangements. The cemetery, as well as a small country church on the site, were founded by Mr. Young’s great, great, great paternal grandfather.
He was born in Marianna, FL on 12/6/1947 to Eva Mae and Downing B. Young Sr. who proceed him in death. Mr. Young was Methodist. He was reared in Cairo, GA and Tampa before his family settled in St. Augustine in the early 1960’s. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1965, attended St. Johns River Junior College and received his B.S. degree in Architecture from the University of Florida in 1971. D.B. moved to Orlando in 1973, where he worked as a former partner of the Cox Partnership and A/R/C Associates. Since 1985, D.B. had worked as a partner and founder of the architecture and roofing consultant firm, D.B. Young and Associates, Inc, Longwood, FL along side his business partner, Mrs. Sandra Picheny.
A loving and beloved father, grandfather, brother and good friend, he is survived by his daughter Sara of Mooresville, NC; his son Stefan, daughter-in-law, Amy and new grandson, Nathan of Oviedo, FL; his brother, James, sister-in-law, Melinda and nephew, Warren of St. Petersburg, FL; aunts, Carolyn Mixon Lewis, Ruth Johnson Brown and several cousins, all of Cairo, GA. He will be greatly missed by his family, close friends and colleagues who knew and loved him.
