James Edward Shelton, age 86, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. He was born May 26, 1930 in Batesville, MS to the late James McKenzie and Mary Etoyle Tubbs Shelton. James was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Water Valley and served sixteen years in the United States Navy. He worked as a Statistical Processing Control Administrator for Holley Carburetor and Siegel Roberts in Charleston, MO where he retired after 25 years of service.
James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jane Shelton of Water Valley, MS; his son, Joel Richard Shelton of Bensenville, IL; four grandchildren, Kristopher R. Shelton, Kimberly E. Little, Kasey L. Shelton and Jacob E. E. Shelton; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Caroline Little.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Edward Shelton, Jr. and John Byron Shelton; and one brother, Billy Shelton.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
