Virginia M. Vita passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning at the age of 83. A life-long Medford resident, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Elvira (Caldero) Ricciardi. Ginny graduated Medford High School with the class of 1950. At the age of 14 she began working at the landmark restaurant, Carroll’s Diner. She eventually became the function manager and worked there until the restaurant closed in 1987. She also enjoyed a long career at Northeastern University where she worked until her retirement.
The beloved wife of the late Rico Vita, she was a devoted mother to Nicholas P. Vita and Linda of Medford and Lisa White and her husband Larry of Medford. She leaves her loving grandchildren: Michele and her husband Emilio, Joey, Jennifer, Nico and Alisa as well as her great-grandson, Luca. She was a dear sister of Nancy Zizzo and the late Sadie Ford, Anthony, Frank and Joseph Ricciardi. She was the special friend of the late Ted Butler and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday, June 1 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 – 8 PM.
