Vivian J. (McGee) Flynn, 83, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully on Friday May 27, 2016 at Elizabeth Seton Residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Francis Xavier Flynn.
Born in Charlestown, the daughter of the late Roland P. and Vivian R. (Bulcao) McGee, she lived in Dartmouth for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. George Church, Westport.
Mrs. Flynn was a sixth grade teacher at the John B. DeValles School in New Bedford for many years until her retirement.
She was a graduate of Endicott Junior College and Boston University. She received her Masters Degree from Bridgewater State College.
Mrs. Flynn was a member of the St. George Church Women’s Guild and the College Club of New Bedford.
Survivors include five children, Judith Splaine and her husband James of Medway, Lori Ferrante and her husband Joseph of Wellesley, Dr. Kevin Flynn of San Diego, CA, Nancy Pressly and her husband William of Myersville, MD, and David Flynn and his wife Kristin of Acushnet; six grandchildren, Kevin Splaine, Cosimo Ferrante, James Pressly, Andrew Pressly, John Pressly and Kathryn Pressly; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:45 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. George Church, Westport at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-7 PM.
