WESTPORT… Romeo A. Fortin, 86, of Westport passed away May 25, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.
He was the loving husband of Lorraine C. (Jean) Fortin to whom he was married for 65 years.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Elie, Jr. and Irene (Clement) Fortin. He had been living with his family in Westport for the last 57 years.
Mr. Fortin was once the owner of the former Eli Fortin Oil Company and most recently worked as a School Bus Driver for Whaling City Transportation. He sat on the Board of Selectmen in Westport and was a Little League Umpire for many years. In his younger years, he was very active in the church, serving as a lector and as Bingo manager, was a member of the Holy Name Society and received the Marion Medal. He enjoyed trips to casinos and gambling.
Along with his wife, survivors include his daughter, Susan Piques and her husband John of Westport, four grandchildren: Jeremy, Justin, Sabrina and John, and 6 great grandchildren.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
