West Roxbury – Joseph Ignacio, age 73 of Dartmouth, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at The VA Medical Center – West Roxbury.
A lifelong resident of this area, Joseph was the son of Jose Ignacio and the late Evelina (Silvia) Ignacio.
Sgt. Joseph Ignacio proudly served our country in United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as a welder and later as a heavy equipment mechanic.
He is survived by his father, Jose Ignacio, of Fairhaven, 3 children: Jason Ignacio and Matthew Ignacio, both of Dartmouth and Meagan Ignacio-Rego and her fiancé, Kevin Pinheiro, of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren: Joseph John Ignacio, Leah Ignacio and Hannah Rego; brother, Wayne Ignacio of New Bedford; as well as 2 nephews.
His funeral will be Thursday at 8:45 A.M. in the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Burial with military honors will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, MA.
