Minnie Land Young, 99, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at Heritage House in Ocilla, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Salem Cemetery, in Ben Hill County, with the Rev. Tommy Land, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Young was born November 21, 1916, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Henry Land, Sr. and Alice Gibbs Land. Following her high school graduation, she attended Business College in Macon. She moved to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1945 after her husband was discharged from the U.S. Army. She lived there until her husband’s death in 2012, moving to Ocilla to be closer to family. Mrs. Young was a homemaker, a master seamstress, and wonderful cook. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Daytona Beach, Florida.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law: Josefina Land and Hazel Land, both of Lands Crossing; four nephews: Juan Land, Ralph Land and Mike Land, all of Lands Crossing and Keith Land of Tifton; as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: J. C. Young; a son: J. C. Young, Jr.; three brothers: Johnny Land, Henry Land, Jr., and Fred Land and a nephew: Tommy Land, Sr.
