Alan S. Heath, 83

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Alan S. Heath, age 83, of Mansfield, formerly of Pfafftown, NC and Taunton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Life Care Center of Raynham. He was the beloved husband of the late Ethel A. (Dwyer) Heath.

Born in Taunton, MA on July 2, 1932, he was a loving son of the late Strafford and Dorothy (Manley) Heath.

Alan grew up in Taunton and was a1950 graduate of Taunton High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War.


Prior to retiring, Mr. Heath had worked for over fifteen years as a Quality Control Supervisor for Princess House in both North Dighton and North Carolina. He had previously ben employed at Texas Instruments in Attleboro.

Alan was an ardent New England sports fan, his favorite teams being the Red Sox and Patriots. He also loved music, which ranged from classical to jazz, was an avid reader and always kept up on current affairs.

He is survived by his devoted children Cheryl Grinnell of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Steven Heath of Middleboro and Mary Heath-April and her husband Richard April of Mansfield. He was the adoring grandfather of Jade April, Nathan April, David Morin and Amy Grinnell. He was the dear brother of Charles Heath of Washington State and the late Donald Heath and Herman Gabel. He was the loving nephew of Marilyn Blanchard of Maine and Robert Manley of Taunton, and is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, June 2nd at 6:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours have been omitted and in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Relay For Life- American Cancer Society, 250 East St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
