Barbara L. (Lawrence) Bresnahan, 78, of New Bedford died Thursday May 26, 2016 at home after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Mary Lawrence, she lived in Hartford, Connecticut, before returning to New Bedford in 1967.
Mrs. Bresnahan was formerly employed as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital for many years until her retirement.
After her retirement, she enjoyed her time spent as a volunteer at the Zeiterion Theater and the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park.
She was a graduate of the Swain School of Design.
She is survived by her daughter, Cassandra Bresnahan of Gloucester.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 1, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 783 Dartmouth St., South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning from 8-9:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Zeiterion Theater, 684 Purchase St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
