Lawrence - Ernesto Schechter, 73, of Lawrence, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband to Beverly (Fallon) Schechter to whom he was married for 40 years.
Ernesto, son of the late Jose and Basia (Altiches) Schechter, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on January 25, 1943. He came to this country in 1965 to pursue his love of music. For over 40 years, he was a musician working in the Greater Boston area. Ernesto was also a hardworking employee of the IRS for 25 years. In his free time, he enjoyed practicing the clarinet and saxophone, photography, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a marvelous drummer with a keen sense of humor, which he carried till his peaceful end surrounded by his family at home.
Ernesto will be deeply missed by his wife, Beverly; son, Zachary Schechter of Newburyport, MA, daughter, Alexandra Schechter of Lawrence, MA; mother-in-law, Hilda Fallon of Salisbury, MA; sister-in-law, Dorita Schechter of Ashdod, Israel; and his brothers-in-law, Timothy and wife Leesa Fallon of Tampa, FL, William Fallon of Tampa, FL, Bernard Fallon of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, John Fallon of Salisbury, MA, and Christopher Fallon, MD of Jonesboro, AK; dear friends, Val and Judy Perry of Medford, MA; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by one brother, Silvio Schechter and father-in-law, Bernard Fallon.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Ernesto’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the KENNETH H. POLLARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 4-8 PM, with a memorial service planned for 7PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Ernesto Schechter to the Massachusetts General Hospital,“Targeting a Cure for Lung Cancer Fund,” 125 Nashua Street, Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114.
