Robert Edward Bergman
Bob passed away on April 21, 2016 in Santa Rosa, CA surrounded by his family. He was born on March 18, 1938 in Brockton Massachusetts to Albert and Dorothy (Ellis) Bergman. He grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Whitman High School in 1956. He joined the Navy after high school and was honorably discharged in 1961.
Bob had a B.S. Business Administration from Boston College, M.A. Management, Central Michigan University, Ph.D. Education, Georgia State University and Post-Doctoral Studies, communications at Georgia State University.
He had a 25 year career with IBM in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Georgia, first repairing computers and then developing a wide variety of educational and training materials. He had a strong desire to research, learn, and teach and continued to do this throughout the years.
Learning, running, gardening, writing poems, playing cards and dancing were a few of his many interests. He also loved spending time with his family.
Bob married Joan Coady on May 12, 1962. He died just short of their 54th wedding anniversary. Besides his wife Joan, he leaves behind his sons Andrew Bergman and his fiancé Terri Parker of Santa Rosa; Bryan Bergman of Healdsburg; and daughter Jill Bergman and her husband Mark Seiberlich and their children Lily and Matthew Seiberlich of Oakland CA. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bob Rogers of Halifax, Massachusetts.
His funeral Mass will be held Friday June 3 at 9:00 AM in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 508 Monponsett St., Halifax, MA 02338. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Halifax. By request of the family all other service are omitted.
